South Africa, the southern tip of the continent, is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Indian Ocean to the south and east. Next to Sun City, Pilanesberg Game Reserve is situated in the North West province Bojanala. Located in the crater of this city, it is the biggest park in South Africa, occupying in an area of 55,000 hectares. The key beauty of Pilanesberg is the great central lake dam Mankwe. Over time, wind and water has carved fantastic scenery of cliffs, open grasslands, wooded valleys and thickets. Often described as magical and mystical, Table Mountain is the premier feature of Cape Town landmark. The magnificent mountain is noticeable from almost anywhere in Cape Town and is often used as a beacon to locate an appropriate way The Mountain is carved into the sandstone and rises 1086 meters at its highest point, Maclear Beacon, across the bay. Its flat summit measures nearly three miles and offers views over the city and its beaches. The panorama spreads from Table Bay to False Bay and from the valley of Hout Bay and Kommetjie. On a clear day, you have a wonderful view of the Cape Flats to the Hottentots Holland Mountains.
Table Mountain is home to an exotic wildlife; many species are prevalent and survive only in the unique ecosystem that is contained in the mountain. There are about 1470 species of plants counting over 250 different species of daisies. Animals such as baboons and porcupines live here freely, and rodents called Rock fur Dassler. These little creatures look like plump rabbits without ears - incredibly, their closest living relative is the elephant! The Table Mountain ghost frog is a kind of animal that one cannot found in other place in the world.
Table Mountain is bordered to the east by Devil's Peak. As the story goes Van Hunks, a pirate in the early 18th century, retired from his eventful life at sea to live on the slopes of Devil's Peak. He spent his days sitting on the mountain, smoking his pipe. One day a stranger approached him, and a combination of smoke followed, which lasted several days. The clouds of smoke and set up a strong wind blossom them down towards the city. When Van Hunks eventually won the competition abroad has proved to be the Devil and the two disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
